Chris Evans Is Ransom Drysdale in New Knives Out Sneak Peek

A new Knives Out clip introduces us to Chris Evans’ Ransom Drysdale character. Ransom is a much different character than we’re used to seeing Evans play. Ransom is being described as the spoiled playboy son of Jamie Lee Curtis and Don Johnson’s characters in the Rian Johnson-directed movie. And right away, it is easy to see that Evans is playing a smug character with a sense of entitlement as he ignores and then insults the detectives trying to question him.

The all-star ensemble cast of Knives Out includes Daniel Craig, along with Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Michael Shannon, LaKeith Stanfield, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Christopher Plummer, Katherine Langford, Riki Lindhome, Edi Patterson, Raúl Castillo, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Rian Johnson was able to assemble a huge cast for his murder mystery and he has been praised by early reviews for his efforts. Even from the latest short clip and trailers, we can see that the acting is going to be what propels the mystery when it finally hits theaters later this month.

Chris Evans just finished up his career with Marvel Studios in Avengers: Endgame, which is now the highest grossing movie of all time. Chris Evans played Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2011 and fans were sad to see him go. But, now was the perfect time for Evans to make his exit, along with Robert Downey Jr., who also left after Endgame. The actor will be able to focus on a variety of different projects from here on out and won’t have to worry about the rigorous production schedules of the Marvel Studios process.

Chris Evans recently spoke about getting into the Ransom Drysdale character. Apparently, the actor was able to dive into personal experience to play Ransom, though it isn’t based on his own personality. Instead, Evans drew from people that he has met. He explains.

“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t know people who are just like (Ransom). He’s born into privilege and he’s also equipped with a victim’s mentality, and I think that combination is very dangerous. You don’t have to look far to find people who operate in this constant victimized, indignant state of recreational outrage where everything is never their fault. It just opens the door to a lot of sh*tty behavior.”

While Ransom Drysdale is far from Steve Rogers, Chris Evans looks like he mastered playing the jerk in a commanding way. Evans was happy to be able to wear nicer clothing in Knives Out. “It’s been a long time since I’ve done a movie where I got to wear nice clothes! I usually wear such boring sh*t,” according to Evans. “The clothing, the hair, all of it helps tons with getting into character.” Well, it looks like the actor was able to get the results he needed, thanks to the proper clothing and some personal experience. The Knives Out clip was provided to us by the Lionsgate Movies YouTube channel.
